On Tuesday 30 November we officially launched the brand-new UAL Sustainability Alumni Network with an in-person event at Camberwell College of Arts.
The evening brought together alumni from all six Colleges to listen to talks from fellow graduates who are using their creativity to combat the climate emergency. There was also the chance to network with each other over drinks and delicious vegan snacks.
The UAL Sustainability Alumni Network is a new community for graduates who're passionate about the most pressing issue facing our planet. Run by a group of dedicated volunteers, it’s a space for alumni to share responsible creative practice, hold meaningful and proactive conversations, and promote inspiring projects.

The five speakers were all UAL graduates who’re passionate about developing creative ways to help counteract the climate emergency:
- David Cross, artist and UAL academic
- Nikita Jayasuriya, Partnership Director at Parley for the Oceans
- Katie Kubrak, Materials and Insight lead at Nirvana Creative Production House.
- Jade McSorley, co-founder of LOANHOOD
- Zoë Powell Best, Materials Researcher
Each of the speakers gave a short presentation about their work and their practice. They spoke about how in their work they are developing and creating alternative solutions, questioning what is seen as the norm, and fighting for change.
