Ieva Dobilaitė is wanting to start a UAL Alumni Group in Lithuania. Ieva studied BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing at London College of Fashion (LCF), and since graduating in 2018 she's moved back to Lithuania, where she now works as a Content Strategist. We spoke to Ieva to find out more about why she wants to set up an alumni group, as well as how you can get involved.

Why did you choose London, and London College of Fashion to study?

My selection process of London and UAL, in general, was relatively simple. I knew I wanted to study fashion marketing, so what I did was scan through the list of the best universities in the world to do so and LCF just happened to be in the TOP 3.

What is your fondest memory of LCF?

My fondest memory of LCF would have to be my 1st group project. Even though I was not entirely fond of it in the very beginning, I ended up meeting Divya and Keagan - two incredibly kind and wise human-beings that I’m still very good friends with, albeit being a sea apart.

What are you up to now?

Upon graduation, I made the decision to return to Lithuania, which at the time made complete sense, due to my love-hate relationship with London. Currently, I’m spending my days as a Content Strategist at Synthesis group, where I juggle a variety of research & content projects.

You’re interested in meeting up with other UAL alumni, and you’d like to set up an alumni group. What do you envisage the group doing?

I’d like to start by saying that during my time at UAL, I did not get the chance to meet many Lithuanians. However, I’ve had the luck to stumble across quite a few after graduation and moving back home. It made me realize that there’s this huge networking opportunity for all of us here. I would love to create a tradition of having informal get-togethers for sharing the joys, the hardships, the lessons learned of living and studying in London, as well as any projects we’re all currently are working on and may need any help on.

What do you hope the UAL Lithuania Alumni group will achieve?

I hope it can be a springboard for new friendships and collaborations. I also see there is the potential of finding a mentor or becoming one yourself. I can remember vividly of how post-graduation years can seem a very daunting place, yet full of potential (especially if you’re graduating with an arts degree) - but it can become oh so magical if you happen to come across the right people.

How can people get in touch if they want to get involved?

You can join the Facebook group for Lithuanian UAL graduates where we can plan our first get together; or get in touch with the UAL Alumni team on if you’re interested in being a part of the group.

Can't find a group near you?

Then why not start an alumni group in your country? It’s a great way to meet new people, network with other creative professionals and develop new business contacts. Contact us to find out more about setting up a group:
