In October we held two perfume workshops for University of the Arts London (UAL) alumni living in Germany. Graduates from across all six of our Colleges attended one of two evening events, as well as prospective students who will be joining UAL in September 2020.

The workshops were hosted by AER Scents, an independent perfume house based in the heart of Berlin. They hand blend unique, 100% botanical perfume from the best natural ingredients, sourced from around the world.

At the workshops guests received an introductory talk to perfume; learning how to formulate a perfume, how to work with ingredients and the five main perfume families.

After a short break, they went into the lab, where everyone had a chance to use AER’s incredible library of natural perfuming ingredients to construct a base note, heart note and top note, before blending them together into their own self-mixed perfume, which they could then take home.

Thank you to the UAL German Alumni Association Committee; Magdalena Zadara, Melissa Zee, Nadja Hermann, Nassim Rad, Nele Vos, Nina Lemm, Ricarda Sallmann and Shanee Beery.
Without the support and dedication of this team of alumni volunteers, who give up their time to help develop a creative network in Berlin, UAL wouldn’t be able to provide our German community with regular opportunities to network, share job opportunities, take part in creative projects and make friends in a city or region they might be new to.
