Louis is an experienced software developer, researcher, artist and musician. Currently, he is Course Leader of the MSc Data Science and AI for the Creative Industries at the Creative Computing Institute. He has previously held positions at Embodied AudioVisual Interaction group at Goldsmiths and completed his PhD at the Media and Art Technology programme at QMUL.
Louis’ research interests include machine learning for music and art generation and and human-robot relationships. Recently, he has been working on web based machine learning music platform MIMIC and co-authored the FutureLearn course Apply Creative Machine Learning.
His work, both individual and collaborative, have been widely exhibited across London, notably at the Royal Festival Hall, and in Dublin, New York and Austria. Mortimer, the robotic drummer he developed during his PhD, has appeared on the BBC’s Christmas Lectures and on Channel Five’s The Gadget Show. He currently makes music using neural networks and his entire teenage music collection.
